Montana:
Montana is a city in the North-west part of Bulgaria, situated in Montana Area. The city is located 45 km south from the Danube River, 35 km north-west from Vraca and 30 km east from the Serbian Border.
It is one of the most beautiful places in Bulgaria. It attracts the visitors with its splendid and peaceful parks in which are situated running fountains. Their beauty reveals especially during the night when their lights are on and people sit on the nearest benches just to observe this magnificent view. One of the attractions in the Sunny garden is the newly built large Chess Board.
The Montanesium is another place that should be visited. It is a built lake with falling water of 15 m. A bridge in the lake leads to a nice restaurant where you can have dinner and try the traditional Bulgarian cuisine. A small pagoda next to the restaurant gathers a lot of couples especially in the evenings, when they can enjoy the romance brought by the reflection of the moon in the water surface.
Ogosta river runs through the city. There is also a dam bearing the same name, located south-west from Montana.
The climate in the region is mild continental.
The population is about 50 000 people. 92.6 % are Bulgarians and the rest are other nationalities.
There are 9 schools, 2 specialized high schools, 5 professional high schools.
Some of the cultural institutions of the city are the Historical Museum, the Dramatic Theatre, several Art Galleries, the Lapidarium-expo composition that includes 56 monuments.
The hospital named “ Stamen Iliev” is accredited – 4 stars and has a high-qualified personnel, that is available 24 hours. The emergency medical center built in 2000 is one of the best equipped in Bulgaria
